Lions deal Rogers to Browns, not Bengals

The Lions have traded Rogers to the Cleveland Browns for cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round pick in the April draft, the Lions announced Saturday, March 1, 2008.

The Detroit Lions traded Shaun Rogers to the Cleveland Browns for cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round pick in the April draft. The deal was announced Saturday by the Lions, a day after a trade with Cincinnati fell through that would have shipped the talented but inconsistent defensive tackle to the Bengals in exchange for third- and fifth-round picks.



Kidd shoots more, keys Mavericks’ win

Jason Kidd finally got the message, the one he was hearing from his new coach, his new teammates and even from friends and family. Shoot! Although more comfortable as a distributor, Kidd showed Friday night that he can change his mind-set, scoring a season-high 21 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks past the Sacramento Kings 115-106 Friday night.

Chris Paul explained his latest highlight-filled performance by complimenting his friend and fellow young point guard, Deron Williams. “When you play against the best, it brings out the best in you,” Paul said. Paul had 24 points, 16 assists and five steals to help the New Orleans Hornets hold off the Utah Jazz 110-98 on Friday night.

Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau said the ball is in Carey Price’s court. So far, the rookie netminder is holding serve. Price won his second straight start since taking over as Montreal’s top goalie, and Tomas Plekanec had three power-play goals for his first hat trick in the Canadiens’ 6-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night.



Boyle scores in OT, Lightning beat Leafs

Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella reached a personal milestone, while Toronto battled back for a key point. Dan Boyle scored a power-play goal with 2:58 left in overtime and the Lightning beat the Maple Leafs 3-2 on Friday night. “It was a quick play and I just tried to put it upstairs,” Boyle said. Boyle, who also had two assists, scored from the left circle.
