Georgia’s World Cup qualifier moved to Mainz

Georgia’s World Cup qualifier against Ireland on Sept. 6 was shifted Thursday to Mainz, Germany, by soccer’s governing body. FIFA cited “the current unrest in Georgia” following the five-day war between Russia and Georgia earlier this month. The match, on the opening day of play in Europe’s Group Eight, originally was scheduled to be played in Tblisi.
